It might not just be a new year’s resolution, but you may have made the choice to go vegan for the coming year.

Even then, you may have made the choice a long time ago, but struggled to take the leap!

There are plenty of ways to make the transition to a cruelty-free lifestyle, but the best thing you can do is jump into it and take the reigns. A little bit of planning will go a long way, but don’t be afraid to take the jump. The Vegan Society say that ‘going vegan is a piece of cake’, so it can’t be that hard, right? Well, right, but if you do this wrong, you might miss out.

If you go vegan, you’ve got to make sure you’re not just eating fries and bread. Carbs are great, but the vegan diet offers so much more than that. There are plenty of vegan fast-food options these days and most will actually contain more nutrition than a folded piece of bread considering that the vegan fast-food will be plant-based. Do a bit of research and don’t just resort to bowls of rice every night.

 

To truly kick-start your vegan lifestyle, invest in some good vegetables and fruit. These should be the cornerstone of everybody’s diet, not just those who take the cruelty-free path. If you can’t stand the taste of some veg, try your hand at juicing. Juicing is a great way to combine essential nutrition with great taste. Juicing isn’t about smoothies as smoothies are made in blenders and give you insoluable fiber in the form of chunks and bits. A juicer will get rid of the pulp whilst retaining the fiber. There are plenty of recipes out there, but the best thing to do is just charge ahead and find out what you like!

You shouldn’t chuck all of your veg and fruit into the juicer. Start cooking with them! Vegans are creative and have found so many ways to recreate traditional dishes so your new lifestyle won’t make you feel left out.

There are plenty of recipes and resources on the web and there are all sorts of directions you can take with your cooking. Do you want to start stir-frying or slow cooking? Well, there are vegan options there for you. Vegan doesn’t mean limiting; it can mean expanding your diet to new horizons that you may not have noticed before. If you’re unsure about ingredients, once again, refer to the web I have so many vegan recipes on my Blog as well!  The internet is the best friend of Vegans worldwide, so make use of it!
Remember, don’t give up. Vegan life will soon become a second nature to you. Take it simple and one day at a time and remember that you chose this path for the right reasons. Not only will you be in better health, you’ll have given back to a world that gives so much to you.
