Hi Everyone!
Today I wanted to introduce you to an awesome and extremely useful Kitchen Scale!! the EatSmart Precision Elite Digital Kitchen Scale. The wonderful EatSmart company sent me this scale to use and review for you guys!
The Precision Elite Digital Kitchen Scale is super easy to use! it has a big backlit LCD screen and a large & easy to clean surface! It can handle up to 15 pounds!!! ( you can use to measure things other than food, under 15pounds)
It has two buttons... so its not confusing at all and it took me less than 5 minutes to figure out!
The Button on the Left is a measurement Unit and Measures in Grams/Kilograms/Ounces & Pounds!
The Button on the Right is the off/On button and it is also the “Tare Feature”
The Tare feature lets you subtract the weight of the container so that you get the true measurement of your food item 🙂 How awesome is that!!!!???
You basically put the container on, push the On/Off/Tare button… it will reset the weight to Zero, then you add in your “bananas” and it will weigh only the bananas and not the glass container! 😀
At first I wasn’t sure exactly what I would use it for! but having to deal with so many different recipes from all over the world it is awesome to be able to measure things in Grams/Kilograms/Ounces & Pounds!!!
Also it really helps with understanding portion sizes or serving sizes! most foods tell you the container contains 3 serving sizes, but its always confusing for me how much the serving size is…WELL… I don’t have to be confused anymore!!!
***Another Awesome function of this Scale is that it helps you track your calories… The scale came with a very helpful Booklet and on the back you can find a list of pretty much every Fruit and vegetable ( and meat, but I don’t need that) with their Calorie Factor
A calorie Factor is the number, calculated using USDA data that represents the amount of calories present per gram of food! you basically
-Turn the Scale on in Grams mode.
-measure you food
– multiply by the weight by the Grams Calorie factor and Voila!!!
The resulting Number is the calories for that portion size 🙂
Now…. I am not a calorie counter for food… to be honest, I hate getting stuck in the vicious cycle of staying under a number… I eat a high carb low fat diet and I am very healthy, because I eat the right foods… I eat plant based foods and fruits and mainly I worry about eating enough!!! so I use Cronometer.com to track my calories… Until this Scale came along, this Scale gives me so much more control!!!
Lets just compare my “banana” from Crornometer calories to My Elite Kitchen scale Calories 🙂
Cronometer ( I am pretty sure I had a medium sized banana)
Elite Scale: 126×0.89= 112.14
Cronometer result: One Medium Banana: 105.02
see what I am saying? It might now seem like much of a difference on one banana, but it certainly adds up!
