No oil, No Gluten, No Sugar.. NO Taste? My Vegan Banana Bread Review

Hi Beautiful People!

I saw this VeganBanana Bread Recipe on Youtube by “Plantbased Judy” and thought it looked interesting!

but how can something… a dessert mind you… with NO oil No Gluten and NO Sugar… yes no sugar... taste good!?

I read the comments under her video and didn’t really see a comment from anyone who had actually MADE the dessert… so I decided to make it myself ๐Ÿ™‚

The ingredients are:

Vegan Banana Bread

( Gluten, oil, sugar free)

-ingredients-

3 cups oats (or 3-1/2 cups oat flour)

3 large bananas

1 packed cup dates

1 cup dairy free milk ( I used coconut milk)

1tsp cinnamon

1-1/2tsp baking powder

Place in 350F Oven for 1-1.5 hours

I will leave a link to her video below so that you can watch how she makes it!!!

basically you use oat Flower! and if you don’t have oat flower… no worries… you can take some rolled oats and grind them to make the oat flower…

I only have my magic bullet and NutriBullet so That is how I did ย my oats.. then basically you just put all the ingredients in and grind everything up together and THERE IT IS! took me about 10 minutes ( only cause I am slow) and then I put it in the oven! ….the result?

Absolutely DELICIOUS!ย

Moist, sweet and unbelievable! and to think this is GOOD for you too!!! I have been obsessed and making this every week! its a great snack and so good with a vegan hot chocolate ( let me know if you want the recipe for hot chocolate)

There you have it Folks… I give this one a Thumbs up! thanks to plantbased Judy!! my only complain is that she should have taken it out of the oven at the end so we could see the results ๐Ÿ™‚

  11. How many cups of oat flour did you use? I keep seeing conflicting resources telling me a cup is 237g or 250g, don’t know which line to measure up to!

How long did yours take to bake?

    2. If I may offer my input on your question, a cup is a volume measure and it varies depending on where you are in the world. Here in the USA it is 237ml – not grams. Elsewhere it can be 250ml or 200ml. How much a cup of anything weighs depends on what you are weighing. A cup of rice, for example will weigh more than a cup of marshmallows. I hope this helps.

    1. I measured by cups, not entirely sure if it was 250, you can add that and if you feel you need more you can ๐Ÿ™‚

  15. Personally I am somewhat indifferent to banana bread. I mean, it’s OK but I don’t rave over it as some people do. I have a friend who absolutely loves banana bread and who is also gluten intolerant. I am going to pass this on to her.
I do have one observation though. I think it is a little disingenuous of the original recipe author to claim it is sugar free. Dates, depending on the variety, are around 65% sugar and a cup of them will contain about 3.5 oz (about 90g) of sugar. The bananas too will contribute around 75g. To put that in perspective, the sugar accounts for about 10% by weight of the total recipe.
I apologize for bursting anybody’s bubble but I feel it is important to be aware. I should also add, I do not believe for one second that there was any deliberate intent on anyone’s part to deceive. I just think we sometimes forget to take into account the natural sugars in some foods we eat.

    1. I hope your friend likes the recipe ๐Ÿ™‚ I think what the original recipe author meant was that there is no refined sugar added to the recipe… yes there is sugar in fruit, but it reacts differently in the body and it does not contribute to obesity or weight gain the same way… so in that sense it is sugar free and far as baked desserts go! he presence of fiber in fruit determines what happens to fruit sugars in your body and how quickly they are broken down in your gastrointestinal tract. Unlike refined sugar, fiber in fruit expands in your gut, making you feel full. Fiber is the biggest secret as to why fruit sugars are not as dangerous as refined sugar, preventing the sugars from being rapidly broken down and stored.

  17. I tried this recipe and it didn’t turn out like pictured. I used 3 cups of rolled oats and blended it up into oat flour. I produced 2 and 1/4 cup or 533 ml of oat flour (236ml+236ml+59ml). I followed the instructions and used the exact ingredients and my banana bread was doughy after baking it for an hour and 20mins at 350F. Please advise on the measurements of oat flour. Thanks!

    1. Oh no!!! Sorry took me a day to answer wanted to remake this and see what was going on…I did mention in the recipe that you do need roughly 3 1/2 cups of oat flour! I did learn that cup measurements vary from place to place recently! So I’ll revise in the recipe ๐Ÿ™‚ I think the key here is to also make sure you have large ripe bananas as well to have a perfect bread! Thanks for commenting! And I am so sorry it didn’t turn out ๐Ÿ˜ฆ
